Terms of service

1. The service

MailSplat scans a Hotmail / Outlook.com or Gmail mailbox that you connect, summarises its contents, and helps you delete mail you no longer want. The scanning engine runs in your own browser: mail data is read directly from Microsoft or Google and stored only on your device (browser IndexedDB), never on MailSplat's servers. The free tier includes scanning, the dashboard, statistics and contact breakdown; the Pro subscription adds bulk delete, auto-select presets and unlimited clean-up.

2. Your account

You must provide accurate details, keep your password, recovery key and authenticator device secure, and not share your account. Two-factor authentication is mandatory. You are responsible for activity that happens under your sign-in.

3. Deletions are your decisions

MailSplat never deletes anything on its own. Every deletion is one you selected and confirmed through a confirmation dialog, and deleted messages are sent to your provider's recoverable Deleted Items / Bin folder rather than being destroyed immediately. You are responsible for what you choose to delete. Providers empty their bin folders on their own schedules (typically around 30 days); recovering mail after that is between you and your provider, and MailSplat cannot restore it. We strongly recommend reviewing selections before confirming, especially with bulk actions.

4. Subscriptions, billing and cancellation

  • The Pro plan costs $1.49 per month, billed annually as one payment of $17.88 per year, through Stripe's hosted checkout.
  • The subscription renews automatically each year until cancelled.
  • You can cancel at any time; Pro features remain available until the end of the period you have paid for, and no further payment is taken.
  • Cooling-off: if you tell us within 14 days of your first purchase that you wish to withdraw, we will refund the payment. After the cooling-off period, and for renewals, payments are non-refundable except where the law says otherwise.
  • Prices may change; existing subscribers are notified before a change affects their next renewal.

5. Third-party services

Using MailSplat with a mailbox also involves the provider's own terms: Microsoft's Services Agreement for Hotmail/Outlook.com, Google's Terms of Service for Gmail, and Stripe's terms for payment. MailSplat is not affiliated with Microsoft, Google or Stripe, and is not responsible for their services, outages or API changes — though we will do our best to adapt when they change things.

6. Acceptable use

You may only connect mailboxes you are authorised to manage. You must not attempt to disrupt the service, probe its security, or use it to break any law or any provider's terms.

7. Liability

MailSplat is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Helium22 is not liable for loss of data (including mail you chose to delete), loss of profits, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the service; our total liability in any event is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

8. Ending or changing the service

We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. We may modify or discontinue features; if we discontinue the paid service, unexpired subscription time will be refunded pro rata. We may update these terms — material changes will be announced on the site, and continued use after a change means the updated terms apply.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of its courts — without depriving you of consumer protections you are entitled to where you live.
