What MailSplat is

MailSplat is a mailbox clean-up service for Hotmail / Outlook.com and Gmail. It scans your mailbox and turns it into something you can reason about: every sender becomes a contact, every message's size is measured, and the whole picture is summarised so the emails and senders taking up the most space are obvious at a glance. From there, clean-up is deliberate: you choose what goes, and nothing is deleted without a confirmation dialog.

Privacy-first, by architecture

Most mailbox tools pull your email onto their servers. MailSplat does not — it cannot, because the scanning engine runs in your own browser:

  • Sign-in happens with Microsoft or Google, on the provider's own page. MailSplat never sees your mailbox password.
  • Your browser talks directly to the provider — the Microsoft Graph API for Hotmail/Outlook.com, the Gmail API for Gmail. Your mail never passes through MailSplat's servers.
  • Scan results are stored in your browser's IndexedDB, on your own device. Clear your browser's site data and they are gone.
  • Deletion is always recoverable at first: deleted messages go to your provider's Deleted Items / Bin folder, and every delete sits behind a confirmation dialog.

Because that is the sound of clutter being wiped out fast. A decade of newsletters, notifications and "just checking in" — splat — gone in an afternoon, while the mail that matters stays exactly where it was.

Scanning, the dashboard, statistics and the contact breakdown are free. The Pro plan — $1.49/month, billed annually at $17.88/year — unlocks bulk delete, auto-select presets and unlimited clean-up.
